Day 6: 27 Must-Read Tips and Tutorials for Bloggers

Started by Nirvana Mamma, author of nirvanamamma.com: 7/24/2010 1:18:21 AM

We made it to Day 6!  After all the elevator pitches, and the list posts, and the promoting, he throws 27 (why not round it to an even 30 Mr. ProBlogger?) amazing articles filled with bloggy wisdom at us.

I know…I know…ya’ll are running on caffeine and adrenaline.  So am I.  But, try to read as many as you can.  There’s some really good info in there.

Just wanted to quickly say that I’m having a blast, and want to make sure everyone else is.  If you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, please take a break and recharge.  Nurture yourself.  If you have to skip a day, and catch up later, it’s OK.  And if you need some extra support, especially if you’re a very new blogger, feel free to reach out to other bloggers or the leadership team on the Forum or on Twitter.  We’re a lively, supportive bunch.  Honest.

Looking forward to the next 25 days!

*****************************************************************************

Key Concepts:

I’m not going to even try to summarize the key concepts from the 27 articles. So, I’ve decided to provide the websites and Twitter usernames of the successful bloggers who wrote the articles so you can read more of their work:

Seth Godin:  Website:  SethGodin, Twitter:  @thisissethsblog

Rand Fishkin:  Website:  SEOMoz,  Twitter: @seomoz

Skellie:  Website:  Skelliewag, Twitter:  @skellie

Chris Garrett:  Website:  ChrisG, Twitter:  @chrisgarrett

Yaro Starak:  Website:  Entrepreneurs Journey, Twitter:  @yarostarak

Jeremy Schoemaker:  ShoeMoney, Twitter:  @shoemoney

Maki:  DoshDosh, Twitter ID:  @doshdosh

Liz Strauss:  SuccessfulBlog, Twitter ID:  @lizstrauss

Daniel Scocco:  DailyBlogTips, Twitter ID:  @danielscocco

Chris Brogan:  ChrisBrogan, Twitter ID:  @chrisbrogan

Question 1:  Which of these posts and authors resonated with you the most?

Quesiton 2:  List one nugget of bloggy wisdom you learned that you want to share with the group.

I plan on going back and re-reading these posts, taking notes, and coming up with an action plan for my blog.  Couldn’t do it in a day, though.

Question 1:  I absolutely adored Rand Fishkin’s diagrams.  I also thought his post, “21 Tactics to Increase Web Traffic” was detailed and awesome.  I resonated most with Liz Strauss, because she writes in a warm, fuzzy style.

Question 2:  Best advice that people might skip over was a tip from Chris Brogan in “40 Ways to Deliver Killer Blog Content”:  Deconstruct what your favorite writers do, and try it your own way.

It’s not a blog tip, but a writing tip that is HUGE.  Backwards engineer what other successful writers do.

I've been reading these posts for the past 6 days now, and it seems like this e-book has some great info in it!  I wish I was able to buy it and participate, it seems like a lot of fun but since the hubby has been laid off I can't justify spending on anything aside from the basic needs of our family.  Even still though, I've learned a lot of useful tips just reading about you all taking the challenge!  And it's been really fun to read some of the blog post from the challenge that are listed here everyday!!

Life is Fragile, so is blogging

Question 1:  Which of these posts and authors resonated with you the most?

Liz was my favorite.  I loved the way she wrote and could totally relate to what she said about commenting and building relationships.

Quesiton 2:  List one nugget of bloggy wisdom you learned that you want to share with the group.

Seth shared an awesome point.  He said to pick 10 people and to write to them.  I think that is a great way to focus who your writing to and for.

1. It is hard for my to choose just one, so I will give my favs. The blogs that had the writing style and content that resonated with me the best would be Seth Godin, Dosh Dosh, Chris Brogan, and Liz Strauss. Lol, i think that is the entire list.

2. "See blog comments as a way to network with the author, so that you’ll be able to obtain a particular benefit in the future. Think long-term: not just incoming traffic today but exposure down the road." -Dosh Dosh

You can still participate if you'd like, Ashlee.  It's all, more or less, on Problogger's site too.  Just do a google search for "Day x problogger 31dbbb".  I never have a problem finding that day's task:

noindex is a meta tag you put in your headers so that robots won't index it in search engines.

<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">

Why would I not want my post indexed in search engines?
