Blogging Advice

What do you wish someone would have told you when you first starting blogging?

Were you doing something crazy and later found out it was all wrong?

Someone should have told you :-)

I wish someone had told me to use WP from the outset instead of starting with Blogger.

And, I wish I had known about blog networks when I started blogging 18 months ago on my food blog...I was blogging in silence for so many months except for my Facebook followers! :)

I hear a lot of people talking about WP rather than Blogger.  I'm not sure I understand why.  Blogger is great for me since I'm a bit "web illiterate."  Why do you wish you'd started with WP, Gigi?

I'm curious about WP over Blogger as well! It took about about a month and a half to learn about blog networks! They're great! I've been blogging less than 3 months, so I don't have any words of wisdom to share, but I'm going to listen to what other people have to say!

I started on WP, it's very user friendly. I'm very non-techy :-)

So, I really don't know the difference between WP and Blogger, just what I've heard.

They say that WP gives you many more options.

By Blog Networks, are you talking about Social Media or advertising?

Yeah, I'm feeling the same way about Blogger vs. Wordpress - I've heard bad things about Blogger but I'm still not sold on moving.  Why did you move, Gigi?

I wish someone had told ME about SITS earlier! :-)  Way more fun to interact like this and so much easier to find other bloggers to get to know.

I wish someone had told me that it might take a while to find my "voice" but that once I did, I'd stop suffering from "bloggers block".

Basic CSS ;-)

Also, I desperately want to buy my domain now, LifeForward.com, which does not seem to be in use, but I can't.  Would have done it to begin with, which would have required a slightly different name, but made life a smidge easier.

Also, I'm using onsugar (http://onsugar.com) and am really liking it.

Beth totally agree with you!!

I just wrote a post the other day about the 3 resources that were essential to the launch of my blog. I found that a lot of people have questions about WP vs blogger, themes/designs, and how to get followers. So I put a post together with my experiences.

Another thing I wish I was told early on is how TIME CONSUMING social networking can be. I swear 2 hours can fly by just hanging out in forums, FB, and twitter.

hmmmm...  html!  I've asked my computer guy nephew a couple of times and all I got was "html is on it's way out".  Well... Im living in the here and now and it's still "in"  LOL   Also twitter ins and outs.  It took me for-ever to finally get on, but I still don't really know what I'm doing...and I regret it that someone else has the name "sweetjeanette" on twitter!

I did purchase my domain name though.  sweetjeanette is me..all me now... and realwomeneat.com is too.  Couldn't believe that wasn't already snagged up!

Thank you for putting it all together! I'm going to go check it out...

Yes, I too wished I would've known how time consuming AND addicting the world of blogging is!
