What Were The Best Gifts Your Child With Special Needs Received for Christmas?

Started by Tammy and Parker, author of Praying For Parker 1/3/2010 7:24:45 PM
I''m always interested in what works for other kids with special needs.  What toys, books, music, etc.

Share what worked for you this holiday season!

The one item I was looking at, but didn't purchase, was the cake with candles from LeapFrog.  The description reads that a child can actually blow the candles out. (!)

Boy would being able to blow excite Parker's ST and OT!  hee,hee

Tammy,

I haven't heard of the LeapFrog cake with candles, but that sounds really cool!  Emma (who is almost 6 and has septo optic dysplasia and optic nerve hypoplasia, developmental disabilities, amongst other things) received roller skates from Grandma (thanks!) and CandyLand and her favorite was the doctor coat with "tools".  I love the latter because I want her to believe she can be anyone she wants to be!  She's been to enough doctors...she knows the routine!

I did a LOT of special items this year for my son, Will (has CP and autism).

I bought him the Neurosmith Musical Mozart Magic Cube Autism Sensory Toy (found on eBay), a BodySox from Therapro (he HATES it!), touch boards from LakeShore Learning (very cooland then I got him a silky super hero cape that HE LOVES and wears ALL THE TIME. (it's great for his sensory issues).

Okay, I'm loving the idea of the doctor coat and tools!  Gonna make note of that one!

Debi, how does the music on the Musical Mozart Cube sound?  Going to go and take a look at those Touch Boards!  Lakeshore is (kinda) local to me!

We got Parker a silk super hero cape too.  He loves it.

I got brave last night and made up a huge batch of Snow Dough ( homemade play dough that is white with glitter and sparkles)  that has proven to be a big hit too!  yay!  I even put the recipe up on Parker's blog.
