author of 3 boys and Adoption!?!

I'm on here (blogfrog) and then a few boards and forums specific to what I actually blog about (adoption, http://going4fourth.blogspot.com ), not necessarily trying to increase hits so much as gain insight and help from those that have been where I'm at (starting adoption process). And maybe helping people that end up wanting to start this process themselves someday.
I guess networking different sites and areas, participating in the areas where people can or want to relate to you? Good luck, and Toby is adorable (love the photo of him with your husband) :)

Mom Thoughts - Ramblings of a Mom in Ministry

I have a mom's ministry in Wisconsin and Minnesota - check out our website on www.strengthamongmomsministry.com . If you ever want to try your hand at penning an article, you can always promote your blog in your bio at the end. I cannot pay my journalists, but we do have several hundred readers in the Midwest! :)
You can send me your article at penniebixler@strengthamongmomsministry.com if you're ever interested. :)
Blessings! -Pennie

Moms like you are so special. Blogging is not only a great way to help raise awareness, but also to connect. You will find other families like yours.
If you want to gain readers, try to post regularly, which it looks like you are doing. Don't give up, even when you feel like no one is visiting except for friends and family. I got a surprise comment from a stranger who's daughter just had surgery at the same hospital that my son goes to and had the same procedure as his last surgery. He has a heart defect. He didn't really know how he found me but he did, and I think it made him feel better to connect. That was the point in which I realized that I was actually helping others.
Find the big organizations that deal with spina bifida, and at them to your blog in a resource section on your sidebar. Add lots of tags to your posts and use them a lot so search engines pick up on them and if another family is looking for SB then they will have a better chance of finding you.
I would suggest a bit more contrast in the colors. It looks like you are going for black, white and gray, but the text doesn't pop out of the page enough and on some monitors will be very hard to read. Fill in your profile more, you don't really have to answer every last question, but it visitors will connect with you more if you let them know who you are. You can go to addthis.com and get the little share button and it will tell you how to insert it to the end of every post, so you can share the direct link on twitter, facebook etc. Look on social networking site like twitter for SB organizations and follow them. I have found a lot of other heart families on twitter by following different orgs.
And A was right, look for forums and talk with other moms there. Lots of orgs have forums as part of their website.
Good luck, you have a great idea!

Kari--- I just love your blog. I love finding good people like you that want to make a difference and put there words out there for others to confide in. We have a Children's Hospital here in Utah Primary Childrens Hospital and they take donated blankets and all kinds of donations. They are a huge hospital that people travel from long distances to come too. Right now my best friends daughter goes there every week for her dose of Kemo. I think you could have a very sucessful site allowing people to submit names to you to get a hospital gown sent to a loved one. I don't know just a thought, but I love what you are doing! I am now following and I can't wait to watch you grow!
