Who Says 8 Is Enough?

I started blogging to basically keep in touch with family and have been amazed at how many people enjoy reading about our family.
I remember the first nonfamily member comment and remember who it was and was shocked when it happened. (I had no clue about blogging. LOL)
I have met so many wonderful mamas to twins, adoptive mamas, foster parents, families to many, mamas to autistic kids, mamas to handicapped children, etc...just through sharing interests and it's so wonderful to compare notes and offer comfort.

I actually started blogging while I was pregnant with my oldest son. A couple of friends of mine launched one of, if not the, first blogging site at www.deardiary.net and asked me if I'd write there. Ten years later and I'm still blogging. My 9 year old has cerebral palsy and once we get settled in here, I may start writing more about life with that.

Twin Sisters Help Promote your blog

Janice and I actually started blogging to help promote work at home moms and their online businesses. As wahms with online stores we knew first hand how hard it is to get traffic and exposure and we sincerely want to help others. 5 Minutes for Mom has grown to be a lot of different things, but that is still our primary goal.
Our 5 Minutes for Special Needs is my favorite of our sister sites. I believe it is such an important community!!!

Blogging is like therapy for me. I have a beautiful daughter with complex medical needs and I need to stay strong so I can be there when she needs me the most.

Susan,
I have to agree. I know I have even written to you about it, but I just LOVE 5MFSN. I have met the most wonderful women who have been helping me a lot as I struggled to deal with my son's diagnosis while my friend's baby was dying.
Thank you so much for creating it!

I started blogging because my daughter, who has Down syndrome, had a small part in a movie. I was updating my family and friends. It turned into a whole different world when I found out that a lot of my friends who have children with Down syndrome were also blogging.

I started blogging because I kept an online journal with updates about my son (diagnosed at age 16 with brain tumors and a genetic cancer syndrome). The journal, however, was for "sick" kids...and I often found myself writing outside of the boundries of drs and hospitals.
So I started blogging instead.

I have blogged through many of our special life assignments (I love that!!).
I started blogging through CaringBridge when our daughter had open heart surgery 6 years ago to help keep family & friends updated with her progress & healing. I then found it helped me as well & continued to privately journal once we were home & well.
Our littlest was diagnosed with Developmental Hip Dysplasia last year. I have started a blog to not only keep our family & friends updated but to help others recognize DDH in the hopes that other families will not have to endure the many surgeries & challenges that a late diagnosis has. If I can help just one family ... that would be incredible.
Warmly, Steph
