Breast Cancer Week: Have you been directly or indirectly touched?

This month is national breast cancer week. Have you or someone you love been touched by breast cancer?

I had a friend who lost a breast last year. She is a mother to many children and has a full life. When this happened it all stopped everyone in their tracks. I praise God today she is cancer free today, but it brought the reality close to home that it can happen to anyone, of all ages.

Also what is your opinion of what Christine Applegate did to eliminate cancer. Would you do the same?

All have had some form of surgery and all but one had the chemo/radiation treatments. Two had the same treatments as Christine. I did the Race for the Cure in 2006 for all my friends and family. We did it with a one of my coworkers diagnosed at the age of 24. She is an over ten year survivor now. I did the I heart faces pink week in tribute to them all. Cancer affects all of us thank goodness for modern medicine. Brandie

In our grandparents day they did not catch it until it was too late to do anything about it. Thank you for doing that Race in 2006!!

Right after my 3rd baby was born I noticed a lump in my breast. I had my OB check it out at my 6 week postpartum checkup, and she said just to keep an eye on it. A few weeks later it was still there and so she ordered a breast ultrasound. Waiting for those results were the longest 5 days of my life. The results came back that I did have a breast tumor, but NOT cancerous. FHEW...... But it did hit home to me that we ALL, young or old, pregnant or nursing or not, need to do our breast exams every single month, and NOT WAIT if we find something out of the ordinary.
View Profile	Reply by Lisa author of Zippy Tid Bits 12/22/2009 9:10 PM I just passed my one year anniversary of being a cancer survivor. I had a double mastectomy. They found it in one of my breasts and I had them both removed, because I did not want to take the chance of having it return and putting my kids through it again. My mom had it twice. I had a friend that had a single mastectomy, so I totally understand what you mean about not wanting to put your family through that again. Merry Christmas.
