Making your House a Home
1/26/2010 10:41 AM
When my boys were nursing, they slept in our bed.
Even though my boys are teenagers, I still wake up with every sound that's made in the house. I think when we become Moms, God gives us extra hearing. :)
I think if you move Cora in with the girls, they will probably sleep through any noise that she makes.

My kids have always slept in their own rooms (okay that's a lie the first 6-8 weeks I keep them in my room in a small crib). Kids sleep way sounder than us mommies!!m I think your other girls will sleep right through her little movements and noises. My 5 year old has always slept right through all her sisters noises. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!!

I found that my kids slept much better with the baby than I did, just like Brandie said. Granted, it was quite a dilemma when my fifth child had to be added into the 2 rooms that the other kids shared already. It is crowded!

I am having a similar issue with my 6 month old boy. He sleeps with us and I am still nursing but am so ready to move him into the crib in the same room as his brother. I'm just worried that he will wake his older brother up or vise versa. I haven't figured out how I am going to go about doing this yet. But I need to get more sleep! I blogged about the stress I am under due to lack of sleep HERE.

Both my girls are such sound sleepers, and I think most kids are! I bet the baby won't disturb her sisters at all. Getting a good night's sleep will make you a better mom! (I'm a mess if I don't get my eight hours!)

Our babies sleep in a cradle in our room for the first 6 months or so, then I move them into the room with their siblings. I have found the same thing to be true as the others have stated. Kids are MUCH more sound sleepers than I am. They are hardly ever bothered by the baby's noises and Mommy gets a much better night's sleep, too!

When my boy was a baby he slept in a crib in our room for the first year. We put him down a couple of hours before we went to bed and it worked out well. We're all snorers too, so I am sure the bedroom was a cacophany of noise while we slept!

We also have the baby in our room (often in our bed) for the first several months, but when they get to be past 6 months or so I'm like you and find that I wake at every. little. thing.
We haven't had any difficulties with the older kids waking when we moved a baby into their room, but our kids tend to be heavy sleepers.

I am going through something similar with my kids. I wrote about my situation HERE.
I hope your situation improves for you! I received a lot of great comments on my blog from mothers suggesting ways to get your kids to bed.

Can I Get a Full 24 Months Between Kids, Please?
2/2/2010 7:43 PM
We have our 7 month old in our room and I am hesitant to move her not so much because she will wake up her sister, but that I will wake up her sister when I go into nurse. My oldest was in our room until 9 months and our middle for 13 so, I figure I still have a few more months, lol.
