What good questions can we ask here to stir conversation around helping the world's poorest villages? I'd love your creative insights!

It would be great to discuss ways we can incorporate giving/fundraising/awareness raising into our blogging.

Wouldn't it be great to do reviews/giveaways for charity?

How can we get together as 'Mum Bloggers' to make a real difference in the world?

How can we use our influence as bloggers to raise money to help people living in poverty?

Meg, we're beginning a digital way people can commit to helping specific poor villages. Here's what we're planning:

Village Sponsor: Just 100 people at $12/month sponsors our entire Transformational Community Development program in a poor village! They can then follow their village's progress.

Village Champion: 5 "Village Champions" recruit 20 friends each to fully sponsor our program in a village. We communicate to our Village Champions FROM the village 1-2 times per year via a live private video call. They can get their co-sponsors to join in!

Cluster Champion: We help 3-5 villages in a cluster. Our Cluster Champions recruit and develop their own Village Champions, who in turn recruit their Village Sponsors. We fly our Cluster Champions to visit their village cluster once a year!

I'd love your feedback on this concept Meg.

Jeff, that sounds so exciting ... I am already thinking of people I could contact to work with and sponsor a village.

It would be such a great way for bloggers to put their networks to good use for a worthy cause!!

I would love to support this idea.  2011 is an interesting year as I would like to be more practical in my support for Social Justice.

Meg, Carol & Debs, your suggestions are great! In 2011 we're creating a way that blog owners and their reading community can adopt specific villages to support... and even go visit their village! Jennifer (MckMama blogger) is testing it out by going with me to Kenya & Ethiopia in Feb.

Jeff, I would be interested in a conversation about village adoption by ordinary people: who is intrigued by the concept, and what are the perceived hindrances or obstacles that would prevent someone from being a Village Champion (using the language I saw from you in an earlier post)?
