Every year, we got the same thing in our stockings when I was a kid:

1) One of those candy cane shaped tubes of imitation M&Ms and the plastic red top was a whistle

2) A candy cane

3) An apple

4) An orange

5) A handful or peanuts in the shell

6) A Christmas sparkler toy (the kind you push a plunger and it spins around and makes red /green sparks)

That's it! EVERY YEAR! The same thing!!!!!! So funny. I'm going to switch it up for my daughter. 

I always remember receiving the story book of lifesavers. I gave it to my kids one year and they LOVED it. Slinky's are always a hit :) 

I also remember the story book lifesavers and that shows up in my daughters stockings every year. The biggest hit is their toe socks they get every year - they love them and they're cute! :o) Have a safe and healthy New Year!
