Have you heard that Skecher’s has launched Shape-ups for Girls?
Skecher’s Shape-up shoes were originally created to help women tone their leg and glute muscles while wearing “cute sneakers.” Recently, the company launched a version for girls as young as seven years-old (size 2) to reportedly adhere to the principles of childhood anti-obesity campaigns.
Leonard Armato, president of Skechers Fitness Group, said the company is trying to send a positive message about fitness. "The whole message behind Shape-ups is to get moving, get exercise, and get fit," he has stated in news interviews. "This is the same messaging being used by the First Lady's Let's Move initiative, which is aimed specifically at children."
Armato continued, "Clinical studies have demonstrated that Shape-ups provide toning and fitness benefits including increased muscle activation, greater energy consumption, increased metabolic rates, and the strengthening and toning of certain muscles” for girls.
Do you agree? Will you purchase Skecher’s Shape-ups for Girls for your daughters?
