Decorating Help Needed

Started by Jean , author of Typical Suburban Family 7/29/2010 8:18:43 PM

We’ve been living in our house for over 4 years now and I’m still struggling with what to do for this wall in our family room. It’s a two story wall and the way the furniture is situated the TV is off center on the wall and the air/heat vent is off centered the opposite way.

You can see exactly what I mean on my blog at Typical Suburban Family

See how blah and boring it is??  HELP ME!!!  What would you do with this space if it was in your house?

Hi there,

I see what you mean. First the scale of the TV Is too small for the wall. You could put pictures up, aor a collection of empty antique picture frames. I you have book case line them up on the wall. I would place some armchair facing into the room and position the couch so you create a conversation area.

This is also a high wall like yours. Creation the vignette combined with the tall mirror keeps the eye level lower and creates interest.

Hope this helps

Happy decorating

Have you done anything with it yet?  Check out my blog for some ideas.  And I do like the wording idea too.
