What's the Last Book YOU Read???

Started by Cop Mama, author of Cop Mama 2/9/2010 6:24:41 AM

I found a cool website where you have books delivered right to your email  for FREE! I blogged about it today at "Read Books Online For Free!"

So, I'm curious, as a busy mom, what's the last book you read??? Something for yourself?  Parenting book?  Fiction?  Memoir?  Magazines Only?

David Baldacci's "Hour Game". A little more explicit than I like, but Baldacci is an excellent writer!

Currently working on reading "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking and "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" by someone who is not a very good writer and it's like read the original, but add some kung-fu and zombies essentially whenever they're traveling.  The last thing I finished was "Zombie Haiku," which is funny and short, and I reread Anne Rice's "Pandora."  I currently have about a dozen books that I already own and want to read, my old writings to type up and post to a new blog, and my own current novel project that I'm about 20,000 words into.
I'm one of those people that likes having the actual book in hand, but I can see how books to e-mail could be convenient.

I love, love, love reading historical fiction. I love losing myself in a fictitious story, but I also love to learn something while I'm at it. An awesome book I just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns. The setting is Afghanistan and centers around the lives of two women there. One of the most excellent books I have ever read.

"Codependancy: No More"  It is a book about how to overcome codependancy in your life...it was the BEST self help book I have ever read and I still, to this day, refer to it when I find my old codependancy behaviors creeping back up.

Samantha, tell me more. What is codependency exactly? Is that relying on someone else to provide your happiness?

The street lawyer by John Grisham. I think that was the last Grisham novel that I had not read!

I am currently reading Shepherding a Child's Heart, but the last book I finished was Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering by Dr. Sarah Buckley.

Currently reading Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult.  I've read all her books.  I finished Dear John a night ago and I want to go see the movie.  I've read almost all if not all of N. Sparks as well.  I read a lot.

Jen - No, not at all!  One word sums it up completely...CONTROL!  I am a child of an alcoholic, so I have tried so much throughout my life to make everything as CONTROLED as I could as to not have the same disfunctional lifestyle in our house as I had growing up.  It is a VERY stressfull way to live...

However, no two codependants are exactly alike...we are each unique in our history and controlling ways...sometimes, it is the wife of an cheating husband who follows him to work every day...or the parent or a drug addict who worries constantly about their child to the point it disrupts their lifestyle.

Email me (samvicjoeeva @ aol.com) if you want to know more...it is a very common behavioral disorder.  (but, in no way is is really a physical medical condition).  However, there can be physical side effects (like anxiety, stress).
