Once upon a time (last week), I started getting a surge in hits. Of course I was wondering why and noticed an old post called Polka Dot house was getting a mass amount of views and I thought to myself What The Heck is going on. Then, I noticed that they were coming from Yahoo. Oh, Yahoo, hmm, I never go on Yahoo..I think I will check out Yahoo for a change. Then much to my surprise the 1. trending article was about a Polka Dot House, oh da! no wonder my hits are from Yahoo. It was about a different Polka Dot house than the house I did an article on. This Yahoo article was about how a man painted his house with polka dots and how the neighbors were annoyed. So that is how my old post hooked a ride on a trending article off a big site called Yahoo. This roller coaster ride was an unexpected thrill for little me who is about as big as Horton Hears a Who dust. After reading those two lines, I knew that I had found a woman after my heart! I continued reading each prior post, (totally enjoying each one of them), until I reached the post dated Thursday, March 29, 2011, The Countdown Has Begun. Here is an excerpt from that post: "In seven days most of our worldly possessions will be on sale in a front yard in the west end of Beaumont, Texas. The house seems almost cavernous at this point. The entire formal living room is empty. Wow. There will need to be a second purge once the house sells but for now we have reduced our material mania by 2/3rds. The Victorians used to call shopping and their lifestyle Conspicuous Consumption. The purchasing of endless bric a brac to put next to the endless bric a brac they already have. All for the sake of having it and showing it off. I have recently changed my Wordpress blog, Solar Baby to a different template and am busy changing the pages to blend with it. I also had changed my Homesteading On The Internet template so I could put bigger photos on it when I want and have a larger area on the right side of the text. Yesterday and today, I have learning how to use Hootsuite again and have been scheduling my posts. That way I can keep writing on my book and not get sidetracked. I also had to reregister my blog with Networked Blogs on FB. It has not been working and I had to manually put my new posts on my wall. But that does not reach the people who are not my friends, but follow my blogs. Hope it works now.
